Sussex Nomads Hill Climb and Cyclo Cross
Half-a-dozen Lewes Wanderers were among a field of 79 entrants for a hill-climb time-trial up the infamous Ditchling Beacon on the morning of Sunday 27th October and organised by Sussex Nomads CC.
Star of the show in 57th overall, but third fastest female, was Anya Tamplin who completed the 1,576 yard long course in 6 minutes and 44 seconds.
Competition was keen among the quintet of male competitors from Lewes. Joe Benians just edged out Dan Street by 0.4 of a second as Joe claimed 18th in 5:19.1 ahead of Dan in 19th in 5:19.5. Richard Burchett was 30th in 5:40.0 just ahead of Robb Cunningham in 36th with a time of 5:53.9. Ed Tuckley finished in 6:07.9 for 44th place.
Dan Street was the only Lewes Wanderer to travel up to Gravesend Cyclopark on Sunday 3rd November for Round 8 of the Kinesis UK London and South East Cyclo Cross League promoted by Team Darenth. On what was a bright and sunny day the off-road parts of the course were still slick from heavy rain the day before.
Dan made a great start and was 19th by the end of the first of four laps. However he consistently struggled to literally get-to-grips with a long off-camber earth bank and dropped half-a-dozen places on the second circuit. Despite two faster laps to follow he lost a further couple of places to finish 27th of the 78 starters with 3 non-finishers.
